About Saxifraga crustata
Saxifraga crustata, commonly known as skorjasti kamnokreč, is a small alpine perennial plant forming compact rosettes of leathery leaves, often covered with calcareous deposits that give it a frosted appearance. During spring and early summer, an inflorescence emerges with delicate white flowers. It is ideal for rock gardens, wall crevices, or alpine gardens, adding a touch of rustic elegance and resilience.

Dinaric Alps, from Slovenia to northern Albania.
Care tips
It requires full sun to light partial shade and very well-drained soil, preferably alkaline or neutral, with good gravel or sand content. Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry completely between waterings, and reduced in winter to prevent waterlogging. Avoid excessive moisture around the rosette, as it is susceptible to crown rot, especially in humid climates.
