About Christ's thorn jujube
Ziziphus spina-christi, locally known as Tsinavu ndziche, is a spiny evergreen or deciduous tree that can reach up to 20 meters in height, featuring a dense, irregular crown. Its intertwined branches and sharp thorns give it a robust appearance, making it ideal for defensive hedges or as a standalone specimen in hot, dry climate gardens, providing shade and character. It is particularly valued for its resilience and small edible fruits.

Care tips
This species thrives in full sun and is highly drought-tolerant once established, although occasional watering during extreme dry spells will promote growth and fruiting. A common mistake is overwatering in its early stages, as it is prone to root rot in waterlogged soils; ensure the substrate dries out completely between waterings.
