Care, watering, light and tips for Snowdrop anemone on Floravia.
Anemone sylvestris, commonly known as snowdrop anemone or wood anemone, is a rhizomatous perennial plant that produces delicate, often solitary, white flowers with a prominent yellow stamen center. It grows 20-40 cm tall, forming attractive clumps with soft-textured, lobed basal foliage. It is ideal for partial shade gardens, woodland edges, or as ground cover in cool, moist areas, adding a wild and elegant touch.
Central and Eastern Europe, and Western Asia
It prefers locations with partial shade or filtered light, as direct midday sun can scorch its leaves. Keep the substrate consistently moist, especially during dry periods and flowering, but avoid waterlogging, which can rot the rhizomes. It requires well-drained soil, rich in organic matter, and slightly acidic to neutral. A common mistake is planting it in heavy, clayey soils without improving drainage, which compromises its development.
