About Thymus saturejoides
Thymus saturejoides, known as Zîitra, is an aromatic, shrubby thyme endemic to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, forming dense and compact mats. Its small green leaves and pink or purple flowers make it ideal for rock gardens, low-maintenance landscapes, or as ground cover in sunny areas, providing a Mediterranean appeal and an intoxicating aroma. Its drought resistance and low-growing habit make it an excellent choice for xeriscape gardens or as a border plant.

Care tips
It requires full sun for optimal growth and abundant flowering. Watering should be infrequent, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, as it is very sensitive to excessive moisture. Use a well-drained substrate, preferably sandy or with good gravel content, and avoid waterlogging at all costs, which is the most common and fatal mistake for this species. It does not tolerate heavy or clayey soils.
