Care, watering, light and tips for Scarlet sage on Floravia.
Salvia splendens, commonly known as Scarlet Sage or Tropical Sage, is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant (in warm climates) native to Brazil, famous for its vibrant spikes of intense red flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. It is ideal for flower beds, borders, containers, and as an accent plant, adding a bold and continuous splash of color throughout summer and autumn.

It requires full sun for abundant flowering, although it tolerates some partial shade in very hot climates. Watering should be regular, keeping the substrate moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry periods. It prefers well-drained soil rich in organic matter. A common mistake is not deadheading spent flowers, which reduces blooming and plant vigor.
