Europe and Western Asia
It thrives in full sun for abundant flowering, although it can tolerate some partial shade in very hot climates. It requires well-drained soil, preferably sandy or with good organic matter content, and moderate watering once established, tolerating some drought. Avoid waterlogging, as it is susceptible to root rot. A common mistake is planting it in heavy, damp soils.
