About Melocactus macracanthos
Melocactus macracanthos is a globular, bright green cactus that develops a woolly, spiny cephalium at maturity, from which its flowers emerge. It's a species native to the Caribbean, ideal for cactus collectors due to its unique shape and the contrasting colors of its body and cephalium. It looks spectacular as a standalone plant in decorative pots, both in bright indoor settings and protected outdoor spaces.

Care tips
This cactus requires abundant direct sunlight for optimal growth and cephalium formation. Watering should be moderate in summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, and almost non-existent in winter. Use a very porous substrate with excellent drainage, specifically formulated for cacti and succulents. Avoid excessive humidity and waterlogging, as it is extremely prone to root rot.
