About Feather cactus
Mammillaria plumosa, known as 'plymvårtkaktus' or feather cactus, is a small and attractive cactus distinguished by its soft, feathery white or pale yellow spines that completely cover its spherical body, giving it a cottony and delicate appearance. Native to Mexico, its tiny white or yellowish flowers emerge in a ring around the crown in spring, adding a charming touch. It is ideal for cactus collections, xeriscape rock gardens, or as an indoor potted plant, where its unique texture can be appreciated up close.

Care tips
It requires bright sunlight, preferably direct morning sun or intense indirect light the rest of the day, to maintain its compact form and encourage flowering. Watering should be sparse and infrequent, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter to prevent rot. Use a very well-draining substrate, specific for cacti and succulents, with a good proportion of coarse sand or perlite. A common mistake is overwatering, which can quickly lead to root and basal rot of the cactus.
