About Parodia subterranea
Parodia subterranea is a small, intriguing globular cactus, known for its tendency to grow partially buried, with only its apex exposed above the soil surface. Its stems are dark green, with ribs and short, stiff spines that often curve towards the body. It's an excellent choice for cactus collections in shallow pots or rock gardens, where its compact nature and bright yellow spring blooms can be appreciated up close.

Care tips
It requires bright, direct sunlight for most of the day for optimal growth and abundant flowering. Watering should be sparse, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter to prevent rot. Use a very porous and well-draining substrate, specific for cacti, with a high proportion of inorganic materials. A common mistake to avoid is overwatering, which is the main cause of death in this species and most cacti.
