Care, watering, light and tips for Rose pincushion cactus on Floravia.
Mammillaria rhodantha, commonly known as the rose pincushion cactus, is a globular or short columnar cactus, often forming dense clusters. It is characterized by its reddish to brownish radial spines and pink or purple flowers that form a ring at the top. It is ideal for cactus collections, rock gardens, or as an indoor plant in a sunny location.
Central Mexico
It requires direct, bright sunlight to bloom profusely and maintain compact growth. Watering should be moderate in spring and summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, and very sparse or none in winter. Use a very well-draining substrate, specifically for cacti. Avoid overwatering, as it is the most common cause of root rot in this species.
