About Thimble cactus
Mammillaria polythele, also known as the Many-tubercled Biznaga, is a slow-growing columnar cactus that forms cylindrical stems densely covered with prominent tubercles. Its spines vary in color and arrangement, often curved, and it produces small pink or purple flowers in a ring around its apex. It is an excellent choice for cactus collections, rock gardens, or as an indoor plant in well-drained pots.

This Mammillaria requires abundant direct sunlight to thrive and maintain its compact form; avoid excessive shade. Water moderately during spring and summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, and drastically reduce watering in winter. Use a very porous and well-draining substrate, specific for cacti. A common mistake is overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
