Espostoa melanostele, also known as 'tät ullkaktus' or Peruvian old man cactus, is an impressive columnar species characterized by its dense covering of white hairs, giving it a snowy appearance. It can reach considerable heights and develops a woolly lateral 'cephalium' at maturity. This plant is ideal for cactus gardens, rockeries, or as a striking centerpiece in large containers, adding an exotic and architectural touch.

It requires full sun for optimal growth and proper development of its woolly covering. Watering should be moderate in spring and summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, and very sparse or none in winter.
