About Opuntia elata
Opuntia elata, commonly known as Tuna, is an arborescent or shrubby cactus native to South America, valued for its fleshy pads and edible fruits. It exhibits vigorous growth, forming a branched structure with bright green pads that can take on reddish hues under sun stress. It's an excellent choice for desert gardens, rockeries, or as an ornamental plant in large pots in warm, dry climates.

Care tips
It requires full sun exposure for optimal growth and abundant flowering. Watering should be sparse, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter; overwatering is its worst enemy. Use a very well-draining substrate, specific for cacti, with plenty of coarse sand or perlite. Absolutely avoid waterlogging and constant humidity, as this will quickly lead to root and base rot.
