Care, watering, light and tips for Cape marigold on Floravia.
Arctotheca calendula, commonly known as Cape marigold or plain treasureflower, is a fast-growing perennial groundcover native to South Africa. Its lobed, silvery-green leaves form a dense mat, and its bright yellow, daisy-like flowers with a dark center bloom profusely. It is ideal for covering large areas, stabilizing slopes, or as a low-maintenance plant in rock gardens.

It prefers full sun for abundant flowering and well-drained soil, although it tolerates a wide range of soil conditions. It is very drought-tolerant once established, so watering should be sporadic, only when the soil is completely dry. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot and fungal diseases. A common mistake is planting it in dense shade, which drastically reduces its blooming.
