About Dandelion
Taraxacum subtile, or Subtle Dandelion, is a perennial herbaceous plant species from the Asteraceae family, similar to the common Dandelion but with more delicate characteristics. It features a basal rosette of toothed leaves and bright yellow flowers clustered in solitary heads atop hollow stems. Though often considered a 'weed,' its early blooming and resilience make it suitable for low-maintenance gardens, naturalized meadows, or as a pioneer plant in disturbed soils.

Taraxacum subtile is a very hardy and low-maintenance plant. It prefers full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soil types, though it thrives best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Watering is only necessary during prolonged dry spells once established; otherwise, it tolerates drought well. A common mistake is attempting to eradicate it completely, when it can be a valuable early source of nectar for pollinators and an indicator of soil health.
