This bamboo prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, rich in organic matter and consistently moist. Be sure to water thoroughly, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging which can rot the roots. It is a running bamboo, so installing a rhizome barrier is highly recommended to control its spread. A common mistake is not providing enough space or containment, leading to it becoming invasive.
