Tillandsia cyanea, commonly known as Pink Quill or Air Plant, is a fascinating epiphyte from the Bromeliaceae family, native to the tropical forests of Ecuador. It is distinguished by its showy, flattened, bright pink inflorescence, from which small violet-blue flowers emerge. This plant is ideal for open terrariums, compositions with other tropical plants, or as a vibrant, exotic centerpiece on a desk or shelf.

It requires bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun exposure, which can scorch its leaves. Watering should be moderate: mist its leaves 2-3 times a week in dry environments or briefly submerge it in lime-free water once a week, ensuring water does not accumulate in the base of the inflorescence to prevent rot. It does not need soil, as it is an epiphyte; you can mount it on logs or rocks. A common mistake is overwatering the central rosette or leaving it waterlogged, which can lead to rot.
