Care, watering, light and tips for Aechmea pubescens on Floravia.
Aechmea pubescens is an epiphytic bromeliad, recognized for its attractive inflorescences that emerge from a rosette of green leaves. Its brightly colored bracts and long-lasting flowers make it an ideal centerpiece for tropical terrariums or as a decorative indoor plant mounted on wood or in well-drained pots.
Costa Rica and Panama.
It thrives in bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun exposure which can scorch its leaves. Keep the central 'tank' of the rosette filled with fresh water, changing it every few weeks, and water the substrate lightly only when it feels dry. Use a very well-draining substrate, such as an orchid or bromeliad mix. A common mistake is overwatering the substrate, which can lead to root rot.
