Euphorbia hislopii, commonly known as Crown of Thorns, is a succulent shrub native to Madagascar, valued for its thorny stems and small yet showy floral bracts. Its flowers, which range in shades of red, pink, orange, or yellow, bloom almost continuously, offering a bright splash of color. It is ideal for rock gardens, dry garden borders, or as an indoor plant in temperate climates, where its hardiness and prolonged flowering make it very appealing.

It requires abundant direct sunlight for optimal flowering; at least 6 hours a day. Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot, especially in winter. Use a well-draining substrate, preferably a cactus and succulent mix. A common mistake to avoid is overwatering, which can be fatal for this plant.
