About Gorse
Ulex europaeus, commonly known as Gorse or Furze, is a spiny evergreen shrub belonging to the Fabaceae family. Its densely branched stems are covered with sharp thorns, and in spring, it adorns itself with abundant, fragrant yellow flowers. It is ideal for creating defensive hedges or for restoring degraded soils in temperate and coastal climates.

Care tips
It thrives in full sun and tolerates poor, well-drained soils, including sandy or acidic ones. It is extremely drought-tolerant once established, so watering should be minimal, only during prolonged dry spells. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can weaken the plant and reduce its flowering. A common mistake is planting it in dense shade, where it will not flower properly.
