About Astragalus boeticus
Astragalus boeticus, commonly known as kaffevedel, is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, native to the Mediterranean region. It is characterized by its prostrate or ascending stems and pinnately compound leaves, which give it a delicate and attractive appearance. It produces small yellowish flowers arranged in axillary racemes, followed by inflated, globose pods containing seeds that have historically been used as a coffee substitute. It is an excellent choice for rock gardens, path edges, or as ground cover in warm, dry climates.
