Sphaeropteris quindiuensis, commonly known as the Quindío tree fern, is a magnificent tree fern species native to the Andean regions of Colombia. It is characterized by a robust trunk and large, finely divided, bright green fronds that can reach several meters in length, creating a majestic and prehistoric appearance. Care tips
This tree fern thrives in partial to full shade, avoiding direct sunlight which can scorch its fronds. It requires consistent and abundant watering, keeping the substrate consistently moist but well-drained, and benefits greatly from high ambient humidity. Use a rich, airy, and well-draining substrate rich in organic matter, such as a fern mix or a combination of peat, bark, and perlite. A common mistake is allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, which can lead to wilting and frond death.

- Fronds (leaves) wilting, drying, and turning brown from the tips, or weak, deformed new growth. The trunk may feel soft or damp.
