Care, watering, light and tips for Burkwood osmanthus on Floravia.
Osmanthus burkwoodii is a hybrid evergreen shrub, valued for its small, glossy green leaves and abundant, highly fragrant white flowers in spring. Its dense, rounded habit makes it ideal for low hedges, borders, or as a specimen plant in the garden. Its sweet, jasmine-like fragrance is an added attraction.
Garden hybrid (not native)
It prefers full sun to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of soils, as long as they are well-drained. Watering should be regular during warm months, reducing it in winter; avoid waterlogging as it is susceptible to root rot. A common mistake is planting it in very heavy or clayey soils without improving drainage, which can compromise its health.
