About Bursera pontiveteris
Bursera pontiveteris, commonly known as Copal, is a deciduous shrub or small tree, valued for its succulent, branched trunk that often develops a sculptural form. Its small green leaves and peeling bark add visual interest. It is ideal for dry climate gardens, succulent collections, or as a bonsai, where its unique shape can be highlighted.

Care tips
It requires full sun for optimal growth and good caudex formation. Watering should be moderate during the growing season (spring-summer), allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, and very scarce or none in winter when it loses its leaves. Use a very well-draining substrate, preferably a cactus and succulent mix. A common mistake is overwatering, especially in winter, which can lead to root rot.
