Mountains of Central and Southern Europe, including the Alps and Carpathians.
It prefers locations with partial shade or filtered light, avoiding direct midday sun which can scorch its leaves. Keep the substrate consistently moist but well-drained, especially during flowering, and avoid waterlogging which can lead to root rot. Use a substrate rich in organic matter and with good drainage. A common mistake is allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings.
