About Primrose
Evotrochis verticillata, also known as whorled primrose or rock primrose, is a delightful alpine perennial forming compact rosettes of fleshy leaves and bearing clusters of bright yellow flowers on short stems. Its modest size and attractive foliage make it ideal for rockeries, alpine gardens, or as a potted plant in cool, well-drained patios. It will add a touch of color and delicacy to any space. While more commonly known as 'Primula verticillata', 'Evotrochis verticillata' is a less common botanical synonym.

Care tips
This primrose prefers cool, shady or semi-shady locations, especially in warm climates, protecting it from direct midday sun. Watering should be regular during the growing season to keep the substrate slightly moist, but avoid waterlogging, as it is susceptible to root rot. Use a well-drained substrate, rich in organic matter and with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, ideally a mix for rockeries or alpine plants. A common mistake is overwatering or exposing it to intense sun, which can cause leaf burn and plant death.
