Nepenthes tobaica is a tropical carnivorous plant species renowned for its distinctive "pitchers" or "urns" used to trap insects. Native to Sumatra, it's characterized by its moderately sized and variably colored traps, often green with reddish speckles. It makes an excellent choice for large terrariums or greenhouses where its climbing nature can be admired.

It requires bright, indirect light; avoid intense direct sunlight which can scorch the pitchers. Keep the substrate consistently moist with distilled or rainwater, without letting it dry out completely. Use a well-draining, nutrient-poor substrate, such as a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite. A common mistake is fertilizing the plant; they obtain their nutrients from the insects they trap, not from the soil.
