About American basswood
The American Basswood, also known as Whitewood, is a large and stately deciduous tree, valued for its dense, pyramidal canopy and large, heart-shaped leaves. It produces fragrant yellowish flowers in summer, followed by small nut-like fruits. It's an excellent choice as a shade tree in large parks and gardens, or as part of tree-lined avenues.
