Care, watering, light and tips for Cinnamon on Floravia.
Cinnamomum verum, commonly known as the true cinnamon tree or Ceylon cinnamon tree, is a medium-sized evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka. It features leathery, glossy leaves and produces small yellowish flowers that develop into dark fruits. It is ideal for tropical gardens or as an ornamental plant in large pots in suitable climates, prized for its fragrance and its culinary and medicinal uses.
Sri Lanka and Southern India
It prefers full sun to partial shade and requires a warm, humid climate, free from frost. Watering should be regular, keeping the substrate consistently moist but well-drained; it does not tolerate waterlogging. Use an organic-rich, slightly acidic, and well-draining substrate. A common mistake is exposing it to low temperatures or prolonged droughts, which can severely damage the plant.
