Care, watering, light and tips for Trailing lantana on Floravia.
Lantana montevidensis, commonly known as Trailing Shrubverbena, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial shrub, perfect for groundcover or hanging baskets. Its small, lavender to purple flowers bloom continuously from spring to fall, attracting butterflies. It's an excellent choice for rock gardens, borders, and to create a cascading effect over walls or containers.
South America (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay)
This Lantana thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for optimal blooming. It is drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during dry spells, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. It prefers well-drained soils, even sandy or poor ones, and does not tolerate waterlogging, which is a common mistake to avoid. Light pruning after flowering can encourage bushier growth and more blooms.
