About Star of Persia
Allium cristophii, commonly known as star-of-Persia, is a stunning ornamental bulb that produces large, spherical, metallic-purple inflorescences composed of numerous star-shaped flowers. These spectacular "balls" can reach 20-30 cm in diameter and are perfect for adding a dramatic touch to borders, rock gardens, or even as dried cut flowers. Its onion-like foliage emerges in spring and dies back as flowering begins in early summer.

Turkey, the Caucasus, and northern Iran
Care tips
Plant the bulbs in autumn in a location with full sun to light partial shade, in well-drained soil. It requires moderate watering during its active growth period in spring, reducing it drastically once the flowers fade and the foliage begins to yellow. Ensure the substrate is never waterlogged to prevent bulb rot; a common mistake is overwatering after flowering. It prefers slightly sandy, well-draining soils.
