Himantoglossum hircinum, commonly known as the Lizard Orchid, is a fascinating and robust terrestrial orchid native to Europe and North Africa. It is distinguished by its tall, dense floral spikes, featuring flowers with lateral petals and a long, twisted labellum reminiscent of a lizard's tongue, ranging in color from green to purplish-brown with a peculiar scent. This plant is ideal for rock gardens, naturalized meadows, or terrestrial orchid collections where a low-maintenance species of great botanical interest is desired.

Care tips
It prefers full sun to light partial shade exposure and well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil, rich in calcium and humus.
