About Autumn crocus
Colchicum speciosum, also known as showy autumn crocus, is a perennial bulbous plant that emerges in autumn with large, saffron-like, purple-pink or white flowers before its leaves appear. It is ideal for adding a vibrant splash of color to rock gardens, borders, or naturalizing in lawns, creating an unexpected autumnal display. Its solitary, seemingly stemless flowers, which appear to sprout directly from the ground, make it a fascinating and low-maintenance option for the autumn garden.

Care tips
Plant the corms in summer in a location with full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Water moderately during the flowering period if the weather is dry, but avoid waterlogging as the corms are susceptible to rot. Allow the foliage to die back naturally in spring to allow the plant to store energy for the following autumn's bloom. A common mistake is to cut back the foliage too early, which weakens future flowering.
