Care, watering, light and tips for Barbados juniper on Floravia.
Juniperus barbadensis is a medium to large conifer native to the Caribbean islands and the southeastern United States. It features dense, scaly, dark green foliage, often forming a columnar or pyramidal crown. It's an excellent choice for hedges, privacy screens, or as an ornamental tree in coastal or xeriscape gardens.

It requires full sun for optimal growth and prefers well-drained soils, including sandy or nutrient-poor ones. Watering should be moderate once established, as it tolerates drought periods but appreciates occasional watering in very dry climates. Avoid waterlogging, as it is susceptible to root rot; a common mistake is planting it in heavy, poorly drained soils.
