About Syrian rue
Peganum harmala, also known as Syrian Rue or Harmal, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Tetradiclidaceae family, native to the arid regions of Asia and North Africa. It is characterized by its finely divided grayish-green leaves and small white or yellowish flowers. This plant is ideal for rock gardens, xeriscaping, or as a standalone specimen in dry climates, where its robust nature and distinctive foliage can be appreciated.

Care tips
It thrives in full sun exposure and well-drained, even poor and sandy soils. It is extremely drought-tolerant once established, so watering should be sparse, avoiding waterlogging which can rot its roots. It does not tolerate severe frosts, so in cold climates, it should be protected or grown as an annual. A common mistake is overwatering, which quickly leads to root rot and the death of the plant.
